Ben Evans - Widely Published Poet and Journalist from Muskegon
Ben Evans, a former resident of Muskegon, is an artist, writer, editor, journalist, comedian and marketing content specialist with a 20-year professional business career spanning the tech, automotive, and nonprofit sectors. Born on the shores of Lake Michigan, Ben has held several roles highlighting his writing, partnership building, collaboration and peacebuilding expertise. As a writer and editor, Ben Evans was the founder and executive editor of the international arts review Fogged Clarity from 2008-2018. While editing Fogged Clarity, major media outlets like The New York Times, NPR.org, and The Chicago Tribune featured the audio discussions he conducted with a host of Guggenheim fellows, Pulitzer Prize winners, actors, poets, authors, musicians and activists for the Fogged Clarity interview series.
Ben played football and studied Political Theory at Colgate University before earning his MFA in Creative Writing from The University of Oregon. His achievements in the literary world are notable. As a poet, writer and journalist his work has appeared in magazines and journals worldwide including Colorado Review, The Cortland Review, Toronto Quarterly, Blue Earth Review, Sugar House Review, RHINO Poetry, Fourteen Hills, The Beyond Race Quarterly, Ambit (UK), Poetry New Zealand Yearbook and takahē (NZ).
For nearly ten years he also worked as a contributing writer for The Huffington Post where he wrote features for the magazine's "Arts" and "Books" sections.
Ben now serves as the President of Light Lion Arts—a nascent 501 (c) (3) non-profit dedicated to creating and producing films and content that promote healing and consciousness. He is currently living in Los Angeles, seeking production for his proposed documentary "Dead Meat" and performing stand-up comedy under the moniker "Benji the Light Lion".
His other interests include reading, filmmaking, gardening, cooking and traveling.
